Youth in Government / City Government Day
YMCA Youth in Government programs develop personal growth and encourage life-long, responsible citizenship by providing experiential learning for young people and by providing public forums to recognize the abilities and capabilities of youth.
Youth in Government programs develop and promote:
- An understanding of local, state, national and international concerns;
- Research, study and debate on public issues;
- Exploration of careers in public service;
- Interaction with adult and youth leaders involved in decision-making processes;
- An understanding of political systems and the forum they provide for the effective and peaceful resolution of issues and concerns;
- Appreciation for the diversity of viewpoints on public issues and a concurrent respect for ideas, beliefs and the positions of others;
- Demonstration of citizenship responsibilities and leadership roles essential to the health of a participatory democracy.

YMCA Build Strong Kids Kid’s Sustaining and Scholarship Campaign
YMCA SCHOLARSHIP CAMPAIGN - At the YMCA no one is turned away because of an inability to pay! The YMCA Board, other volunteers and staff raise money so that anyone with a desire to participate and a demonstrated need can be a part of our membership and programs. In 2006 over 9,000 senior adults participated in water exercise and over 2,000 day campers were taught valuable life skills because of generous contributions from people like you. Thanksgiving Luncheon November 20, 2007
An annual celebration of the work we do at the YMCA is the Tuesday before Thanksgiving at 12:00 noon at Convention Hall. Table sponsorships are $250. This will be a great time of celebration and a nice way to thank employees while helping a great cause. Contact
